Paradise Anthology

1. $2000 first prize $500 audience prize, $200 best bio
2. Poets who make the final will be CONSIDERED (Not guaranteed)  for publication in the Paradise Anthology and there is a music theme (poems preferred can be loosely based on music not necesarily song lyrics) for the next issue.
3. All heat winners are required to perform a different poem for the final.
4. All poets who enter the heats are required to bring two copies ( typed) of their poem for the judges to read while they perform.
5. Time limit for the heat is 2 minutes and the judges will deduct points for those who go over the time limit.
6. All poems performed at Poetry Idol must have been written in the last twelve months and not previously published or on offer to other literary magazines.
7. Due to the Melbourne Writers Festival time constraints poems for the final must be 90 seconds or less. (TBC)
8. For the heats a random draw will operate to determine the running order.
9. Entry fee per poet for each heat is $5 entry at most libraries which helps fund the prize money and administration costs of Poetry Idol.
10. Poets must contact Michael Crane mfcrane2000@yahoo.com to book a place in the heats.
11. Poets are required to give 48 hours notice if they can't attend the heat they are booked in to allow other poets a chance to perform
    

Note some libraries or community centres where Poetry idol are held may have children present so explicit language or content may not be appropriate.

Entry to the heats at most libraries is now only $5 (not $10 as was charged in 2009) Audience members must call each library so they can allow for catering and seating. $5 entry for audience. Poets must check individual library heats for entry fee. Most libraries will also provide wine and finger food.

Poetry Idol Final Guidelines
